About us

We Were Here is a culture, philosophy, and politics magazine founded by three LSE philosophy graduates in the summer of 2026.
In the spirit of the name, We Were Here imagines itself as an archive for the un-and-under-heard. In keeping record, the magazine aims, if nothing else, to leave a trail of testimony. We hope and believe that your writing will inspire actionable change, but we acknowledge that this world is one increasingly unkind to the empathetic intellectualism that we seek to foster. Nevertheless, we believe that leaving your mark is itself important. Like encountering a cave painting, or a graffiti tag pronouncing “Kilroy was here”, we envision this space serving as a reminder to future persons—we were here, we were not silent, and we thought of you.
