At We Were Here, we look to promote a diverse range of voices, views, and opinions. That said, we particularly encourage pieces with a critical perspective on topics such as politics, culture, art, literature, and philosophy. This list is non-exhaustive, so if you have an idea for an essay that falls outside of this purview, please feel free to inquire about fit.

Articles submitted to We Were Here should range between 1,500-5,000 words. We are not an academic journal and value personal, essayistic reflections on your topic whenever possible. Most importantly, we want to hear from you, and in that effort, we kindly ask that you refrain from submitting work written with the use of generative AI.
